So this week has been more eventful than the last few we've had. We had a crazy busy day today, so that's why this email is coming so late.
Last Monday we had our District meeting in Dunn. The Sisters didn't want to go, so it ended up being an Elder's activity. We had dart wars. We also had an interesting conversation with a Jehovah's Witness. The past few weeks we started getting these group texts that were sending out scriptures. We had no idea who the numbers belonged to, so we just kinda ignored it. Well, that morning we got another text, but this time is said, "Law enforcement and military are corrupt and don't fight for justice. Thus saith the Jehovah God." This is when we figured out it was the Jehovah's Witnesses. We decided that we would reply. So we responded, "Where is this said in the scriptures?" they didn't respond for a few hours. When the response came, it was as follows: "IN REFERENCE TO YOUR TEXT ABOUT LAW ENFORCEMENT, & MILITARY, FIRST OF ALL, YOU MORMONS NEED TO REPENT BEFORE THE WRATH OF GOD COMES DOWN UPON YOU. IN AN OLD KING JAMES TRANSLATION READ AND LEARN WHAT JESUS CHRIST CONDONES AND WHAT HE CONDEMNS. THEN, TAKE A GOOD LOOK AROUND YOU, AND SEE WHAT LAW ENFORCEMENT & MILITARY CONDONES, & THEN YOU SHOULD SEE QUITE CLEARLY THAT THESE TWO FORE MENTIONED GROUPS OF FOOLS ARE THE CURSED GOD DAMNED OF THIS WORLD, THUS SAITH THE JEHOVAH GOD!!!! I literally just copied and pasted that...so, yeah. that's just a taste of our everyday lives. I won't go into the discussion we had with them. It really don't go anywhere.
Wednesday we had Zone Conference. It was pretty neat. I learned something interesting. The word "testament' comes from a Greek word that can only be translated as 'covenant.' So the Old Testament can also be called, The Old Covenant. The Book of Mormon is also another testament of Jesus Christ. Or in other words, it is another covenant of Jesus Christ. there is your knowledge for the week!
We had an interesting conversation with another Jehovah's Witness on Wednesday. We talked to her about sharing the Gospel, how they go around and talk to people as well. She gave a coll little book titled, "What Does The Bible Really Teach?" I read through it and found the differences in our beliefs. It also helped me learn what they actually believe.
That was basically our week. Hope you all had a good one!
Love,
Elder Merritt
