Week 3 in Laurinburg: It's Christmas!

Hey everyone! So, this will be short and sweet because we have places we have to be today. I am alive. I get to call home today, so that's awesome! We had Christmas Zone Conference this week. It was fun. This week has been slow because everyone was out of town for Christmas. Not much has happened.

We will see you all next week!

Week 2 in Laurinburg: Well, If Last Week We Killed It, This Week We Slayed It!

Hey, Everyone!

This week was an awesome one! We found 26 new investigators! That's the most I've ever found in 1 week! Now we'll just see if any of them will progress.

We tracted a lot (hence the 26 NI). We also taught a couple really good lessons this week.

We tracted into Zjhahirah (pronounced Je-har-ah). She is quite the character. When she answered the door, she was on the phone. She asked us if we believe in angels. We told her we did, and she got super excited! She said, "I'm on the phone with an angel right now!" She told us that the woman on the other side was one of the greatest people alive! And that she was an angel. She told the lady that she would call her back, and hung up the phone. She proceeded to pull something out of her pocket that looked like a small bottle that you would use to clean your glasses. But, it was actually angel spray! When she sprayed it on herself, she would be protected by the angels. We shared the Restoration with her, and she loved it! When we showed her the picture of Joseph Smith in the Sacred Grove, she wouldn't stop talking about it. Before we left, she asked us to pray for her. We told her we would. She asked us how much it cost. We told her it was free. She asked, "You don't charge for prayers?" We told her that we didn't and that no one was paid in the church. She was again surprised that no one gets any money. She told us that she was charged $400 a month to have people pray for her. Who would charge someone $400 to pray for them?! That's not okay! But anyways, we talked to her a little more and then left.

We had a lesson with Ryan Gillespie, who is the husband of a member in the branch. He's pretty cool! He's a younger guy who is a music teacher. He also loves playing Xbox! So, we got along pretty well. Before the lesson, we were actually talking about Destiny. He told me a little about Destiny 2 (it has come out while I have been gone). After we finished our nerd talk, we talked about the Restoration. He comes to church every week with his wife, so he pretty much knew everything already. We invited him to read and pray about the Book of Mormon.

Yesterday, we had a lesson with one of our Bible referrals. Her name is Daphney. Her ex-husband was also there. He joined in on the lesson. We shared the Restoration, and the accepted it pretty well. Daphney told us that she has seen all the churches, but she wanted one that spoke the truth! We gave her a Book of Mormon and invited her to read and pray about it. After our lesson, they were talking with us about how we spoke truth. And, that they can tell because of the light we give off. They said that they could tell that when we spoke, we weren't trying to deceive them. The we were telling them the truth. They told us that only those who come around to speak truth and have God's light go in their neighborhood (they live in one of the most dangerous parts of Laurinburg). And that because of the light around us, they knew god was protecting us. It was pretty cool to have someone tell you that you give off light!

Well, that was pretty much the highlights of the week. Next week might be a short email because of Christmas. But, I'll talk to all next week!

Week 1 in Laurinburg: Killin' It Here In The Burg!

Hey Everyone!

So, I got transferred to a little town called, Laurinburg. It is in the middle of nowhere! Our area is huge. We are in a branch of about 60 members.  My companion is Elder Baker. He's pretty cool. He's from Reno, NV. He's been out for 18 months. He's a super good missionary!

Here's my new address:

772 Fairly St #37
Laurinburg, NC 28352

Nothing crazy happened this week. But, we did have a couple of good lessons. We met with an investigator named, Teresa. She's super cool. We talked to her about the Restoration and answered her questions. It was a super solid lesson!

We also met with Aiken. We taught him the Restoration. He seemed pretty interested in it. We will meet again on the 23rd. It will be a little while before we see him again.

We also met with Jenny and Alex. We taught them the Restoration as well.

Other than that, we tracted a whole lot this week. Hopefully, our investigators start progressing so I can tell you more about them. See you all next week!

Week 24 in Durham 2: Finally Getting Kicked Out of D2

Hey Everyone! So, I guess you can tell by the title that I am finally getting transferred. I was looking back and found out that my first day her was June 21st! That was so long ago! But it has flown by! I don't know where I am going yet.

Our week was, sadly, very slow again. Nothing too terribly interesting has happened. I am disappointed because I wanted my last week here to be exciting. We are going to the Duke Library today to see a first edition Book of Mormon, so that will be fun! I'll have pictures for that next week.

We did service for a less active family. We baled hay for them. That was really fun! We got to pet the horses!

I hope next week will be interesting because I feel bad not having anything to talk about. Well, see ya all in a new area next week!
