Week 5 in Laurinburg: CHOCOLATE!!

This week was kind of slow, but we had a good lesson with one of our investigators, Yvonne. She is the one who called us the Heroes of the Kingdom.

We were on exchange with the Zone Leaders that day. We had our appointment scheduled for 2 o'clock. Well, we pull up, and as soon as I parked the car, we got a text. It was from Yvonne. She said she would have to reschedule because her son had to leave soon with his dad. We decided since we were already there, we would knock on the door to reschedule. Well, she let us in! It turned our that her husband got held up, so we had an hour to talk to her. She gave us her condolences for President Monson passing away. She saw it on the news, and after it they had a documentary on Joseph Smith. She watched the whole thing! She told us that she saw some similarities between his story and the 12 Apostles in the New Testament. She was very interested to learn more. We just answered her questions, but next time she has questions from the Restoration pamphlets we gave her. So, that'll be good!

We got snow here this past week. And, like last year, the people went crazy! We weer told to stay off the roads. Well, we went to Walmart to see the chaos that was going on there, and we decided to go see the clearance aisle. As we were going through it, I saw something out of the corner of my eye! It was.. a 3 POUND chocolate candy bar! It was 50% off because it was part of the Christmas stuff. After a few seconds of internally battling with myself, I bought it! No regrets here. It was totally worth it! I haven't even eaten half of it, yet. But, it's really good!

The Dunn's are a less active family we eat with every Friday. They invited us over for Sunday, and after gave us some good news. They have had three of their grandchildren living with them, they go to court on Wednesday to see if the kids get to be with them. I think they are trying to get custody, but I'm not sure. Anyways, if the kids do end up living with them, they want them to be baptized! So, we will get to teach them, and the Dunn's are going to start coming back to church! 2 for 1! I'm super excited!

Well, those are the highlights of the week. Hopefully, this next week shows some progress as well!

Love, Elder Merritt
