Hey Everyone! This week was pretty solid. We didn't do a lot of teaching, but we had a lot of fun!
We were only able to teach one person this week. And that was Emily. I was on exchange with Elder Flake. It was good to have him because Emily's dad only speaks Spanish. We talked with her about why reading the Book of Mormon is important to knowing if this is true or not. We watched President Monson's General Conference talk from this past April conference. Then we read a little bit of the Book of Mormon with her. We have been trying to set a baptismal date with her, but it hasn't felt right yet. Hopefully soon!
Well, while we were driving, two birds fell from the sky. They both hit our car. One rolled off the top, and the other kind of disappeared. We were on our way to the church at this time, and when we got there, we looked at the front of our car. Elder Larsen saw some feathers, but looking closer you could tell it was a lot more than just feathers. The second bird got stuck in a hole in our car! It was dead. Neither one of us really wanted to touch it, so we went inside and got some of the young men to come out. One of the deacons was excited to be the one to pull it out! He pulled it out and then chased the young women with it!
Poor bird!
We had dinner with a member on Thursday. Afterwards, we went to this place called Sunni Skies. It's an ice cream place with 150 flavors of ice cream! I got pumpkin pie with cookies and cream. It is probably one of the best things I have ever tasted!
For the past month we have been working with the Methodist church in Dunn to set up a Hymn sing with our church and theirs. Well, after a lot of planning and moving things around, it happened yesterday (June 11th)! It was an awesome experience! A lot of people showed up and we all had a great time. The Methodists even put an announcement on their sign outside! It was an awesome missionary experience, not just for Elder Larsen and I, but for the whole ward too! They were all on board. They talked to so many people they didn't know. It just turned out great!
That's it for this week. Talk to all next week with some more stories!
Love, Elder Merritt
